OTTAWA, June 16, 2016 – The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is pleased to announce its collaboration with Planning for Canada in building a new human resource powerhouse for economic development: GO Talent. Funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this ICTC initiative is supported by a number of key industry, association, government and community partners providing pre-arrival services and employment connections. The partnership’s objective is to integrate Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) as they establish in Canada.
Planning for Canada is a ground-breaking pre-arrival initiative implemented by the Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP), managed by Colleges and Institutes Canada, and the Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) program, managed by the International Organization for Migration. The suite of pre-arrival services offered through Planning for Canada is offered free of charge to prospective immigrants in economic and family classes, including spouses and adult dependents. Planning for Canada is currently offered in-person in 12 countries, with the capacity to deliver online services worldwide.
Through GO Talent, ICTC is working with Planning for Canada to help Internationally Educated Professionals obtain relevant employment and achieve economic success. The program provides employers with early access to global ICT talent on their way to Canada, and assists internationally educated ICT professionals as they prepare to depart their home country. This combined approach directly contributes to the rapid labour-market integration of ICT professionals seeking employment in their field.
