In the next five years, Nova Scotia will need to fill up to 3,200 information and communications technology (ICT) positions, creating an extremely competitive environment for employers. One way to help address the talent demand is by looking abroad and hiring skilled, internationally educated professionals (IEP) who have already prepared for their move to Canada. It is for this reason that ICTC and the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) have partnered to improve the integration of this valuable workforce into the Nova Scotia labour market.

ISANS is presently the largest immigrant-serving agency in Atlantic Canada. Working directly with newcomers, ISANS helps them build their future in Canada by providing a wide range of services, including their newly developed initiative, Settlement Online Pre-Arrival (SOPA). This initiative was created to improve the connection between pre and post arrival services through ISANS’ suite of professional online tools. With a focus on employment connection, ICTC’s GO Talent program helps to connect employers with IEPs who are in their final immigration stage and seeking job opportunities in Canada. GO Talent is a win-win opportunity for both job seekers and employers – it eases the job search for IEPs by providing one-on-one guidance session and employment matching, and helps employers connect with the right talent and increase their competitiveness in the global market.
