ICTC’s in-depth research and analysis of the Winnipeg labour market paints a very positive outlook for economic growth and job creation. Winnipeg is currently considered a strong hub for Canadian tech jobs, home to around 86% of the ICT jobs in all of Manitoba. ICTC research additionally projects a significant growth in the province’s labour market as a whole for the next 3 to 5 years, prompting ICTC to look at Manitoba as a location of choice for international talent to integrate.
On April 26, ICTC signed a memorandum of understanding with a well-recognized Manitoba based service provider, Immigrant Centre Manitoba. ICTC and the Immigrant Centre will collaborate on resources and services to help ease the integration process for internationally educated professionals (IEPs), in turn addressing the growing demand for ICT talent in Manitoba. With the overall ICT jobless rate at 3% in Winnipeg, the opportunities for ICT employment have never been greater.
The Immigrant Centre is well-known for their extensive services in providing newcomers settlement and employment support while also offering an abundance of training in many areas including technical, language, employment preparation, parenting and even nutrition. Additionally, all the services and training they provide are free of charge. ICTC offers services to immigrants as well, including their pre-arrival program, GO Talent. In partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, GO Talent provides pre-arrival support to overseas candidates while matching them with job openings in the Canadian labour market.
Moving forward, ICTC will take full advantage of this partnership with the Immigrant Centre by sharing research and information, in turn providing the best possible access to tools and resources for newcomers.
