CATAAlliance and The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) to conduct labour market study looking at cyber security resource requirements

 

CATAAlliance, Canada’s largest high-tech trade association and ICTC, a centre of expertise in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) research, policy development and workforce solutions will partner to conduct a labour market analysis looking at the current and future demand levels for skilled labour in the cyber security industry.

“This initiative is a direct result of what we heard from senior leaders at CATA’s recent Cyber Security Forum in Ottawa” says Katherine Thompson, Vice-President of Research with CATAAlliance. “There was a strong and consistent message that the need for skilled labour to meet cyber security demands is being felt by organizations both large and small within Canada and globally” says Thompson. The study, which will engage leaders from a cross section of industry and policy makers, will showcase the current state of labour demand within Canada and outline future requirements along with potential strategies to help private sector and government meet the needs of their organizations in the future.

“The internet and digital technologies are rapidly reshaping our economy and society in an increasingly global context. Cyber security is the new business priority and the quest for such talent is accelerating. This research will quantify in jobs and financial terms the impact on our economy, and highlight potential strategies for building the talent supply going forward.”
