March of Dimes Canada’s Training Institute announces new training initiative for accessible employment!
March of Dimes Canada (MODC) is pleased to announce a new training initiative for employers in the ICT sector through MODC’s Training Institute and AccessAbility Advantage, with support from the Government of Ontario.
The Increasing Accessible Employment in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Sector project will develop and promote ICT sector-specific educational resources and training as an effective strategy to increase employers’ capacity to reach and engage a broader pool of talent with disabilities. Based on research in the ICT sector, MODC will customize resources to address and help remove employment barriers, and aim to increase the capacity of ICT employers to attract, employ, and retain people with disabilities.
“Information, technology and communications is a quickly changing industry fueled by innovation and growth,” said Minister Responsible for Accessibility Tracy MacCharles. “Through the EnAbling Change funding program, we are happy to support March of Dimes Canada and its work to create meaningful employment opportunities in this emerging sector for people with disabilities.”
This exciting initiative will be project managed by Shirley Marie Garcia, MODC’s Associate Director of Human Resources and Training Institute, in collaboration with the Information Communications and Technology Council (ICTC), which will conduct a comprehensive research report to support MODC in developing the educational resources.
This project will commence on April 1 2018 and end on March 31 2019.
