We have exciting news! The Information and Communication Technology Council is joining forces with the Institute of International Education Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) to help integrate internationally educated professionals (IEP’s) into the Canadian labour market. Both organisations offer indispensable services, tools, and information, and through this partnership they aim to develop new services to assist internationally educated professionals and displaced scholars to reestablish their careers in exile. Keep an eye out for exciting new developments as this partnership grows throughout the coming months!

The IIE Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) saves the lives, voices, and ideas of threatened scholars around the world by providing academic fellowships to professors, researchers, and public intellectuals who face threats in their home countries. IIE-SRF arranges visiting appointments at partnering academic institutions worldwide so that they may safely continue their work. Since its launch in 2002, IIE-SRF has assisted nearly 750 scholars from 58 countries, placing them at more than 375 host partner institutions in 43 countries around the world. At the heart of IIE-SRF is the idea that each scholar we can help continue his or her work is a beacon of hope in our world. IIE-SRF has recently created the IIE-SRF Partnerships for Scholar Advancement (PSA), a network of partner organizations and individuals committed to assisting IIE-SRF scholars during and post fellowship in career advancement and professional development.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with the Institute of International Education Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) and its partner organizations around the world to create pathways that connect internationally educated professionals and scholars with opportunities to continue their work and their contributions to research and development.”

We are excited about this opportunity to collaborate with the Information and Communication Technology Council (ICTC) and we look forward to putting our ideas into action. The urgency could not be greater. There are more threatened and displaced scholars today than any other time in history. It is essential that we and other partner organizations around the world pool our collective resources and expertise to remove scholars from immediate danger, find them temporary academic homes, and help ensure that they are able to continue and contribute their scholarly work in the long-term.”
