
ICTC announces education & industry partnership with Riipen
Riipen’s secure web-based platform will include an ICTC Business Skills portal that will connect students, educators and industry through project-based learning experiences. Student teams will sign in and have the opportunity to work together to solve business challenges submitted to the platform by industry. Introducing business skills challenges at the middle and secondary school level will engage students earlier on, helping them acquire hands-on experience and develop confidence at an even younger age.

Techvibes: The government of Canada Launches AI Supplier Framework
The Federal Government of Canada has launched a supplier framework for artificial intelligence (AI). The providers will be providing solutions, platform, and framework for the government services. Canada’s chief information officer Alex Benay called the launch fo the supplier framework a “big day for automation of Government of Canada services and overall modernization of our institutions.”

CBC: Ottawa pledges $40M for Nokia to conduct 5G research
The funding comes as the federal government is in the middle of a comprehensive national-security review of the potential involvement of Nokia’s Chinese rival, Huawei, in Canada’s eventual 5G mobile network. Later the same day, Bains and Goodale told reporters that Huawei isn’t the only company that can build 5G in Canada. When asked about options, Bains mentioned Ericsson as an example.

ITWC: Geneva meeting continues the attempt to create no-go rules for cyberspace
The two-day meeting in Geneva of the Global Commission on the Security of Cyberspace, hosted by a United Nations agency, is the fifth public hearing run by the commission, which is trying to create momentum behind a set of unacceptable norms of online behaviour between nations.
