As Canadian consumers gain experience with CASL they increasingly expect organizations will have obtained appropriate consent before sending them commercial electronic messages. Does your business have the appropriate procedures in place to meet those expectations, and your obligations under CASL?
Your CASL obligations also extend to electronic addresses obtained from third parties. CASL contains prohibitions against both collection of electronic addresses through address harvesting or the installation of malware, as well as use of such emails. When you purchase or rent email addresses, are you doing your due diligence to ensure your supplier obtained appropriate consent?
This presentation will be a great opportunity to hear from two regulators – both about their experiences with investigations under CASL and information on how to comply with the law. Make sure you are marketing the right way!
