ICTC’s pilot program, Focus on Youth Careers (FYC), is in search of ICT companies looking to recruit new graduates for a 12 week work (co-op) placement. These graduates are reaching completion of FYC’s 13 week Java Bootcamp. Each individual is 20-29 years of age, and has a university degree or college diploma in Information Communications Technology.
According to ICTC’s May 2015 snapshot, there is a current underemployment rate among youth in ICT of 6.7%. This upholds employer’s argument that there is not enough skilled supply to meet their demand. TheFocus on Youth Careers Java Bootcamp aimsg to upskill youth and provide the ICT industry with talent that has skills in high demand.
